Yes, definitely strong enough for winter jackets, etc. Hook measures about 1/8th wide, very sturdy.

I hang winter coats, scarves, umbrellas from it….it’s right over our doorway entrance. I live in an apartment with no closet space at the entrance, so this is where the winter gear goes. There are only two of us, but our winter coats are big woolen coats. Hope this helps.

Yes it works great.. I have it over my front door for sweaters, school bags and umbrellas.. Don’t have a foyer and needed somewhere to have things easily accessible.. Very pleased with it and it looks like a piece of art.
